MITCHELLVILLE, Md., January 9, 2008–ETE Enterprises is collecting items to assist AIDS orphans at Epworth Mission Grammar School in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe has one of the highest rates of HIV/AIDS infection in the world with nearly 25% of the population affected.
Principal and General Counsel, Mondi Kumbula-Fraser, has family ties to the rural township of Epworth. Epworth is one of Zimbabwe’s poorest areas and lacks running water, electricity and paved roads. Many of the AIDS orphans do not have relatives to care or provide for them. Kumbula-Fraser said, “The situation is dire and we wanted to do something to help. Many of these children are raising themselves and they need our help.”
ETE Enterprises collects clothing and school supplies for the children.
Children in front of school
Items such as writing utensils, books, notebooks and paper have been well received. However, the problem is ongoing, because many of the children do not have family members who are able to care for them. If you are interested in donating school supplies or gently-used clothing, please call 301-740-7800.
